Jingle Jangle Tilda

Happy Friday my Crafty Peeps!

I wanted to hurry up and get this post up before five o'clock because, a) there is a challenge that I want to enter ending at that time and, b) I have to hurry and finish cleaning because my mom is coming in from Milwaukee this evening.  I have been running around like a crazy woman this entire week with putting up Christmas decorations, making decorations, bringing the Christmas china in from storage, trying to get this card made...  PHEW!  I need a long winters nap!

It has been cloudy and raining all day long and so my pictures didn't come out all that well, but I will try again tomorrow and post some more.  (It's still raining and these are the best I could do.  Still much better than yesterday's though),
This beautiful little lady is Jingle Jangle Tilda and she is from last year's A Christmas Story collection.  She is going to finish off that tree by hanging her red bells on the empty side.  I have colored her up in my Copics, inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and used Frantage for snow.
I used some word paper (from stash) for the background of my card and then printed out a red snowflake patterned paper from Raspberry Road to add over that.  I made a frame from corrugated paper and the tree is from a Sizzix/Tim Holtz die.  I went crazy with the Frantage on everything.  The snowflakes on the right are buttons from Joann's that came in a decent sized bag and it only cost me $3 with a coupon.  Oh, the possibilities with these just get the creative juices flowing!  Hee Hee!  There is a tag tucked in the top of the card that reads "May all your Christmases be white".
Thank you for putting up with my craziness!  Have a great day and better tomorrows!

Santa Edwin Lantern

Good Thursday Morning My Crafting Friends!

Today I am posting my first lantern project.  The lantern itself took a while to get together but I believe the results are well worth it.  You can insert a battery operated candle into it and display it proudly or fill it with candy and give as a gift.  (I say put the candle at the bottom and then fill it with candy so that when the receiver finishes the treats, they can then display it).
Thank You So Much For Stopping By Today!

Zombie Tilda

Happy Tuesday My Crafty Friends!

I absolutely LOVE this time of year because living in Arizona means it's almost always too hot to do anything but swim.  But come October, the temperatures drop below 100 degrees and all of my pent up energy wants out and to get things done.  On top of that, YAY, the hubster is now full time at our own shop which means that I have time to do what I love to do again.  CRAFT!!!

I'm excited to get working on Christmas projects but I just had to squeeze in a little something for Halloween.  Here is sweet Tilda ariving at the party to scare the pants off everyone but, of course, she is just too cute to spook anyone.
This little goodie bag will hold some treats for that extra special trick-or-treater.
Thank you so much for stopping by today.  The challenges I would like to enter are listed below and a supply list is at the bottom of the post.  Your comments make my day and are very much appreciated.

Have a happy and safe Halloween!

Heartfelt Christmas

Hello Sweet Friends!  I hope this post finds you all healthy and happy.

I've been working on this card for almost two weeks.  Finding time to craft has been dodgy because of my hubby going back to his regular job for a little while, but he's put in his notice and will be working for our own shop as soon as they find his replacement.  THEN I will have more time for crafting and I'm very excited about that.  Anyway, here is my latest creation:
This is Joyful Tilda and she is serving up some love (and cookies) for her family and friends on Christmas Day.  I just love this stamp!
I don't make easel cards very often but I felt this one needed to be.  I also went with non-traditional colors and that is very difficult for me.  I am such a stickler for tradition in almost all things that stepping outside of my box causes me to panic a little bit.  Oh, and procrastinate.  :p
I found this beautiful sentiment stamp at my local craft store and knew it could be used for so many occasions...
Here is an extra little surprise, a peek-a-boo card.  It's like a little hidden treasure.
I think this will be a great way to give a gift card, because sometimes you just get a gift card in a boring old envelope and it isn't as much fun.  This will make it so much more special.

Thank You So Much for stopping by and taking a peek!  Comments are always welcome and appreciated.  The challenges I'm entering are listed below and my supply list is at the bottom of this post.  Have a wonderful day!

My Friend Darla

Hello My Sweet Blogging Friends!

It feels like it's been forever since I last made a card and posted.  There has been so much going on between the last post and this one!  My husband and I bought an auto painting business and while he is still at his regular job, I've been running the show at the new place.  By the time I get home, I am exhausted.  Last Friday, my husband had hernia surgery and has been hanging out at our shop this week so I was actually able to sneak in a little bit of crafting time while he answered phone calls and did estimates.  :)

I made this card for my dear friend Darla.  Her and I only just met each other this year, but we realized right off that we have so much in common and think so much alike.  We're always joking about how everything in life is so much better with wine...

I colored up this little cutie, Tilda with Love Potion, with my Copics and did up the card to enter a few challenges.  To celebrate the Fall season, I have pulled the flowers and fall leaves from my stash of paper crafting goodies.  I think they go quite nicely with the striped paper...

Here is the sentiment on the inside.

Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a comment.  That always makes my day!

By The Beautiful Sea

Happy Friday my crafty friends!  I hope you've had a good week and have some fun plans for the weekend.

I have for you today, a card I made to fit a bunch of challenges that focused on things like beach, water, fun in the sun...  All of that summery stuff that most people look forward if they don't live in the desert southwest like I do.  Give me clouds and weather any day!  LOL!

This is Water Lily Tilda and she is from the 2012 Summer Memories collection. This is my first time coloring her up since I got her from Cathy Lee's blog candy a while back. Thank You Cathy Lee!
I've colored her up with my Copic Markers and have done all of the edges with Distress Inks.  For the background I printed the words from the song BY THE BEAUTIFUL SEA (From the musical "For Me and My Gal" Harold Atteridge / Harry Carroll 1914) onto white cardstock.  Then I cut that into a seashell shape on my Cricut and stamped flowers and leaves with acrylic paints.  I inked the edges with Distress Ink and added pearls to the flower centers.  The palm tree is also cut from the Cricut.
I then punched waves of kraft and two shades of aqua and tied it together with a bow of natural cording and a little starfish charm.
I added sand from my grandson's sandbox to the base of the palm tree for that beach feel.  I made the flowers with my dies and punches and tucked a little seashell within them.
Here is a close-up of this little darling.  This was my first time coloring curly hair and despite the fact that I forgot to add highlights, I think it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.  :D

Thank You SO Much for stopping by and I really do appreciate your lovely comments.  All of the products I used are listed at the bottom of this post.  Have a great day and better tomorrows!

A Little Christmas In July

Hello My Dear Crafting and Blogging Friends!

It has been exactly 8 weeks since I last crafted and posted a card and I've missed it so much.  I've gotten a little too busy with planning my youngest daughter's wedding, which is next March, and it's amazing how fast the time is flying.  I have been quite sick with Strep and then a nasty cold for the past 11 days and so once I could function somewhat normally again, decided I would cheer myself up with some card making.

So I have for you today Edwin With Sack from the 2012 Magnolia Christmas Story Collection, paired up with the Snowy Roof (from the same collection).
One of my favorite Christmastime songs is "Up On The Housetop" and that was the inspiration for my card.  I colored with my Copics and then got a little crazy with the glitter.
I mixed up a glue and paint concoction to make a sort of texture medium for the fur on Edwin's coat and also for the snowy accents on the poinsettia and snowflakes, then added more glitter.
This is the first time I've used my Spellbinder's Poinsettia dies and I LOVE them!  I've also used the Sizzix Snow Flurries die by Tim Holtz and the MS Branch Punch.
For the finishing touches I added jingle bells to the ribbon bows, pearls to my snowflakes and poinsettia and then stamped my sentiment.
This is the sketch I followed from Papertake Weekly, only I flipped it.
Have you all noticed that some of the craft stores are putting in their Christmas merchandise already?  I don't know about you, but that makes my heart skip a beat in anticipation.  Oh, and the brochure for the Hallmark Ornament Premier just arrived.  Woo Hoo!  Our temps have been around 115 F, and there is no sign of it letting up soon, but the thought of Christmastime and "cooler" weather lifts my spirits, so a shopping I will go.

I very much appreciate you stopping by and taking a look.  If you have a few extra seconds, I would love for you to leave a comment.  Take care, have a great day and better tomorrows!

Mom-In-Law's Birthday

Hello My Crafty Friends!  I hope you had a great weekend and your week is starting out good too.

I have for you today the card I made for the Twist Of Faith Cards challenge blog design team.  This week we're being sponsored by Lacy Sunshine and they are offering, to the randomly drawn winner, $20 worth of images - winner's choice.  We will also be drawing two runners up (1 person to receive 2 images of their choice and 1 person to receive one image of their choice).  So for this challenge we will have 3 drawn winners and the chosen Top 3.
I made this card with my mother-in-law, Jean, in mind because her birthday is coming up soon and she loves flowers.

I know this has been a short post but the husband will be home in a bit and there is no way I can get anything crafty done then so I'm gonna scoot.  Thank you so very much for stopping by and for the lovely comments.  Have a great day and better tomorrows!

Sassy Kitty

Good Monday Everyone!

I have for you today, a project that I did for fun and to try out a couple techniques that are new to me.  I call this Sassy Kitty because my Isabella (a calico) used to sit under the orange tree and watch the Towhee's build their nest.  Her tail would swish and flick and every so often she would chatter but she never bothered to go after them.
I created my little scene by trying a torn garden technique that I saw on the Stamps by Judith website.  I have to say that I had fun with that one.  Then I tried drawing my own clouds and coloring them in with my Copics, following the examples of a few artists who's work I admire.  At present, I'm favoring the old masking technique.  :p
I popped just about everything up on this project but the camera doesn't want to show that so well.  I measured, and at the thickest part is 3/8".  This started out as a simpler card with just a flower or two to embellish, but once I get my hands on my dies and punches, LOOK OUT!!!  I didn't plan to get so carried away...
As usual, I'm pressed for time as I must finish up my DT card for TOFC.  Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such lovely comments.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.  Have a great day and a wonderful week!

Birthday & Blog Anniversary Candy Winner

A Good, Wonderful, Fabulous and Happy Monday Everyone!

I am exceedingly happy today for two reasons:

#1 I get to announce the winner of my blog followers candy.  Finally!

#2 I beat the machine and fixed my computer today.  It has been on the blink since I "updated" it on the 30th. I have now given my word that I will not attempt to make "improvements" to my computer and that I will let my husband Craig do it from now on.

Anyway, down to business!  The number drawn is:

#9

Sparkly Cupcake

Happy Wednesday my Crafty Friends!  I hope you're all having a great week so far.  This should have been posted yesterday but I've been so busy with guests that have come to town that it slipped my mind.

I have for you today, my DT project for Twist Of Faith Cards and our theme this week is MAKE IT SPARKLE.  We are being sponsored by Melonheadz who is giving our winner their choice of an image bundle.  Isn't this a fun image?  It's called Dr Seuss Cupcake and I can see now that I will use it often.  Kinda wish I would have paper pieced it...
I had to keep this one pretty simple cuz it's going across the country to my friend Michele.  Happy Birthday Mick!  (She's younger than me by 5 days)  :p

I hope you get a chance to pop on over to the Twist Of Faith Cards challenge blog to see what my oh-so-talented teamies have whipped up for this fun challenge.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  There are still a few days to get in on my BLOG CANDY! Just click on the picture of it at the top of my side bar.  Have a great day and fantastic rest of the week!

Easter Egg

Happy Wednesday Crafty Peeps!

Today I am showing my DT card for Twist Of Faith Cards and this weeks theme is EASTER.  Our sponsor is Robyn's Fetish, who has a great variety of images, and is giving one of our lucky crafters their choice of 5 digital images.  I chose this lovely Easter Egg to work with and try something new.
I have long admired the paper piecing work of a very talented lady named Marishka and in her case I like to call it EXTREME paper piecing.  Her work is amazing and so I thought I would give it a whirl using this simple design.  I used 8 copies of the image to make it, coloring and cutting certain pieces of each layer and using sticky foam between each.
You should see it in person.  The photos do not do the layers or the colors justice.  Here is a more severe angle to show off those layers.

Now, when it's open.

It took much longer than I expected but I'm happy with the results and can't wait to try this technique again.  I do think some of the slow-down could have been due to my VERY messy desk, I call it my creative chaos.  My glasses are in there somewhere...
Thank You  for stopping by and taking a look around.  Have a happy hump day and don't forget, there's booty to be had in the form of BLOG CANDY!

H.B. Butterflies

Good Friday Morning Everyone!

I hope you've had a wonderful week and that those of you who have been snowed on again, are snug and warm.

Today is the 1st of the month and that means the Magnolia Mania Challenge Blog is kicking off another new challenge.  Our theme for the next 14 days is BUTTERFLIES, and who doesn't think of warmer weather, flowers, green grass and sunshine when thinking of butterflies?
I made this card with my sissy, Kelly, in mind.  It's her birthday this month, just a few days before spring.  (Hopefully she won't see this before she gets it).  I thought I would play around with an idea of keeping everything in shades of brown except the butterflies so that they would stand out.

The gorgeous Magnolia stamp is called Tilda with Hawaii Flower, I just love her...  I'm struggling with the pleats and folds of their darling little dresses so any hints or suggestions on coloring them would be greatly appreciated.  For the background, I used five different stamps and brown ink on kraft cardstock.  My Cricut and MS punches were used for the butterflies.  I know it's hard to see in these pictures but I have made a silver butterfly charm, that is tied onto the tag, using a punch, silver embossing powder and a jump ring.

CANDY SNEAK PEEK!!!!!

As I've mentioned in previous posts, March is my birthday and blog anniversary month.  On the 29th, I will have been blogging for an entire year already and will be turning forty....something, on the very same day.  I have been gathering up goodies to give away and tomorrow I will be going to the stamping convention where I will be keeping a sharp eye out for more goodies to add.  Here is just a little taste (a small sampling really) of what I'll be giving away.
Yeah, it's gonna be AWESOME!

Thank You so very much for stopping by today.  I can't tell you what it means to me that you've taken the time to visit and comment.  Have a great day, and better tomorrows!

Spring Colors

A good Friday afternoon to you my friends!

I have a quick midway reminder post for the Twist Of Faith Cards Challenge and our theme this week is SPRING COLORS.  We are so happy to have From the Heart Stamps joining us with their sponsorship for you! Our prize will be a little different this week, as we have THREE $5 VOUCHERS for 3 winners... (we will be awarding these to 3 winners who will receive one $5 voucher each, just wanted to be clear).  For my card, I chose the Garden Friends image. Isn't it just too cute?
With all of the spring cards being posted around blogland right now, I am most definitely in the mood to get out and start my garden this weekend.  I'll be planting corn, tomatoes, beets, lettuces...  I'm so excited!  I don't doubt that some of you will be shaking your fists at me considering the Midwest just got hammered with snow again, but at least your summers don't hang out in the 110 degree range for four entire months like mine will.  :p

Anyway, like I said, short post.  Thank you so much for stopping by!  Don't forget to take a wander over to the TOFCC blog and see what my oh-so-talented teamies have created for your inspiration.  Have a great day, and better tomorrows!

Hap-Bee Birthday

Good Morning Everyone and Happy Friday!

I hope you all have had a good week and that your weekend be awesome!  I would like to start out by sharing some good news in that I have accepted a new DT position at Magnolia Mania.  I have just been itching to share that!  LOL!  And though I swore up and down that I have enough on my plate already, I couldn't help but take the opportunity to work with my favorite stamps on a more regular basis.  Each challenge will start on the 1st and 15th of each month and seeing as how today is the 15th...

I have for you my first DT entry and our challenge theme is PEARLS & LACE.
I've had this one in my head for a while now and am pleased at how it came together.  Honeybee Tilda is colored up with Distress Inks and sits atop her hive like the queen she is.  The bees are made from woodsies that I've had for years and years.  I've used half eggs and hearts that I painted up, antiqued and then brushed with Perfect Pearls.  I made the flowers to match my patterned paper, again, using Distress Inks.  I'm so sad that I didn't make my sentiment to say Hap-Bee Birthday.  By the time I realized it, it was too late and I had already nailed everything down.  SIGH!!!

Anyway, I want to tell you about the prize you can win by entering the Magnolia Mania challenge.  A 10 pound voucher (which I believe is in the vicinity of about $14 us) is being offered up by Bastelmuehle (The Craft Mill).  I went on their site for the first time today and and am excited to have found a new place to shop.

Thank You So Much for stopping by.  The supplies I've used for my card are listed at the bottom of this post.  Have a great day, and better tomorrows!

Valentine

Good Morning my crafty friends and Happy Valentine's Day!

I have for you today, the card that should have been up Tuesday for the Twist Of Faith Cards Challenge.  I apologise for the delay but I am behind due to the sudden decline and death of my kitty cat Isabella.  She was my sweet, sassy girl for over 17 years and though I suspected the day was not too far off, her passing Tuesday morning still caught me a bit off guard.

So here is what I've come up with.  I love the color combination of brown and pink and thought I would go that direction using this gorgeous Magnolia stamp called Gingerbread Tilda.  Though this is a Christmas image, I think she works out nicely in the roll of Valentine with her basket of hearts.
I have used a sketch by Tuesday Morning Sketches as a guide for my layout.  I dyed my ribbon and made my flowers to coordinate with my color palette.
At Twist Of Faith this week our challenge theme is LOVE and our sponsor Michelle Perkett Studio will give our winner their choice of this weeks featured images.  The image I am featuring for MPS is this lovely sentiment "A Friend Loves".
Please pop on over to the Twist Of Faith Blog to take a look at what my talented teamies have designed to inspire you.

Thank You So Much for stopping by today!  Don't forget that my Birthday/Blogaversary candy will be coming up in March and I have gathered up some fantastic stuff so far.  If you would like email updates, just hop on over to my sidebar and enter your email address.  HAVE A WONDERFUL VALENTINE'S DAY!

♥ Laura C.
