A True Classic

Hello AGAIN My Crafty Friends!

I know!  I know!  Two posts from me in one day is COMPLETELY unheard of but I hope you can get used to it because it will be happening on a regular basis.  ;)

I made this card for my father-in-law's 85th birthday.  We're going to celebrate with dinner out at a restaurant of his choice.  He's already griping because us non-birthday attendees are paying for his dinner and he's arguing that he can pay for his own dinner.  Sigh!

Here I've used the Edwin's Oldsmobile and Barbed Wire Background stamps from the Magnolia 2012 Summer Memories collection.  I've colored them with my Copic Markers (of course) and did the clouds and edges with Distress Inks.  The Happy Birthday dies are from Cheery Lynn.

I'm hoping to show from this angle that I used Diamond Glaze to make the windshield and headlamps look like glass.  My father-in-law was born and raised in Illinois and so I Googled license plates from that year and state and made this one to look like them, black with white lettering and trim.  My husband told me that he remembers his dad owning a blue Oldsmobile back in the 60's.

Here is another angle to show that I made the car with 5 layers.

Copic Markers - Car: B0000, B000, B00, B01, B02, E08, E13, E18, E19, W1, W3, 0  Chrome: C1, C3, C5, C7, C9  Fence: E42, E43, E44, E47, C3  Ground: E31, E74, E79, W1, W3  Grass: YG95, YG97, G94, G99  Flowers: V05, V06, V09  Butterflies: Y38, YR31, E18

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  Please let me know what you think by leaving a comment.  (I really do appreciate them).  A special Thank You to my blog followers.  I hope you have a great day and better tomorrows!

Happy Today!

Happy Saturday My Crafting and Blogging Friends!  I hope all is well on your end and your weekend is off to a good start.

I have for you today, my Tilda's Town Design Team inspiration make for our newest challenge and our theme for this week is YOUR FAVORITE SEASONMy favorite season is Autumn.  When I lived in the Midwest, I didn't have a favorite and I looked forward to each new glorious season.  Now that I live in the Desert Southwest, I look forward to the temperatures dropping below 100 degrees, the approach of the Holiday Season and my mom coming for her annual visit.  After that it just gets hot again.  :p

Here is Tilda With Carrots from the 2012 Turning Leaves collection.  I've paired her up with the Spring Fence from the 2010 Happy Easter collection and colored them with Copic Markers.

What do you think of these leaves?  I was inspired to do some watercoloring after visiting all of the blogs participating in the recent SSS blog hop.  Wow, those ladies are talented!

Here is a side view to give you an idea of the depth of the leaves and such.  See that acorn in there?  That was supposed to be a focal point, but I ended up covering it for the most part.  The lace was one of those happy accidents from a while back.  I was dying it for a project and it came out way too dark so I tossed it in a drawer.  It went perfectly with this project (at least until I covered it up too).

The purpley/blue color on my clock is another happy accident.  I wanted to bring out a deeper brown and put cracks in it by embossing it with ultra thick embossing enamel.  I didn't realize that I grabbed the one that tinted blue but am happy that I did.

You Make My Heart Soar

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope your day is filled with lots of love...and flowers...and chocolate...  :D

Today starts off a new challenge at the Tilda's Town challenge blog and our theme this week is Anything Goes with optional Bling.  As always, Tilda's Town is offering up a lovely prize for our winner.

This little cutie is Sweet Tilda With Balloon from the 2014 Animal Of The Year Collection.  I know there aren't 99 balloons, but that song has been in my head the whole time and was actually the inspiration for my card.  My "bling" is the glittery word "Valentine" that I cut using my Cricut and coated with Xmas Red Stickles.

The Eiffel Tower and the leaves are Sizzix dies.  The border punch is Martha Stewart.  Since I don't have a corner punch to match, I mitered the corners.  The Balloons were punched with miscellaneous punches that are so old, they don't have manufacturer names on them.

Copic Markers:  Skin: E0000, E000, E00, E11, E13, R01, R20  Hair: E40, E41, E42, E43, E44  Outfit: C1, C3, C5, C7, C9  Balloons & Lace Collar: R20, R22, R24, R29, R59

Here is the inside...

PS   I had to show you what my wonderful husband and best friend of 25 years gave me for Valentines Day.  (Apparently, Copic markers grow like flowers somewhere).
This was such a happy surprise after such a crappy Friday the 13th.  I got photo bombed at an intersection after being stuck in a jam for 30 minutes, I nicked the bumper of my truck on a shopping cart corral, I dropped a brand new bottle of probiotics, which resulted in me having to move several large kitchen appliances to retrieve them, and I forgot to take the recycle bin to the curb.  UGH!
